Text that does not age
Every sentence passes the five-year test: what is true today must still be true in five years. Dates, trends and popularity claims stay out of the narrative.
About
academia.sh is a text-based education platform organised as curricula, courses, topics and lessons. There is no gamification and no badges: the product itself is well-written text.
15 curricula · 90 courses · 1,586 lessons
Project
All content lives in a single four-level hierarchy: a curriculum draws the end-to-end path through a field, a course is a self-contained unit at one level, a topic is a chapter of a course, and a lesson is an atomic text read in one sitting. Every lesson opens with objectives and closes with a summary.
There is no ad script and no advertising cookie. The only measurement tool is Google Analytics, and it runs only if you allow it; decline and it is never loaded. Reading a lesson requires no account; you create one only if you want your progress, notes and bookmarks kept — and those records are yours alone.
Both languages are first-class. The Turkish and English trees share the same structure, the same addressing rules and the same editorial standard; a missing translation is shown, not hidden.
Mission
To build a library of ordered, complete texts written with textbook rigor, reachable by anyone learning a field from scratch — without paying and without creating an account.
01
Remove the barrier to access
Lesson URLs are public: there is no paywall, no sign-up wall and no daily reading limit.
02
Build order, not a pile
The reader knows where to begin and what comes next; the hierarchy answers that question on the page itself.
03
Never sell attention
Revenue comes from readers, not advertisers. That is why the text is written to teach rather than to attract.
Vision
An open reference library that answers “where do I learn this?” with the same seriousness in English as in Turkish.
Every sentence passes the five-year test: what is true today must still be true in five years. Dates, trends and popularity claims stay out of the narrative.
As the catalog grows, the state of each course stays visible: roadmaps show which step is written and which is planned.
Tools that measure and certify what was learned sit next to the reading surface. They surround the content; they never replace it.
Promises to the reader
All four were written to stay true after the paid tier arrives; keeping one never requires bending another.
No ads
No ad slots, no sponsored lessons and no embedded promotion anywhere on the site.
No profiling
The only measurement is an aggregate visit count that runs solely with your consent; your reading is never profiled and no data is used for advertising.
Content stays free
No lesson URL is ever moved behind the paid tier, and nothing published is withdrawn.
No account needed to read
Reading a lesson and searching require no sign-up.
Not a promise — a fact
Published content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, and that licence is irrevocable: a text published today stays free under any circumstance. The site’s source code is MIT licensed.
Where the line runs Pro
Reading, and keeping track of what you read, is free. What costs money are the tools that measure and certify what you learned.
The distinction is neither arbitrary nor a marketing decision: the only reason a tool costs money is that every use of it does work on a server — grading an exam, issuing and verifying a certificate, answering as the study assistant. The content itself never crosses that line.
Free
Pro
The Pro tier is in preparation; sales are not open yet. Nothing announced as free is later moved into the paid tier.
How it is written
Every draft is reviewed against a binding editorial guide; text that does not pass it is not published.
01
Years, current events and popularity claims stay out. When a version-dependent fact is unavoidable, the version is stated explicitly.
02
A concept is built in words first and formalised afterwards. Every abstract definition lands on at least one concrete example.
03
A term keeps the same wording throughout a course; synonym drift is not allowed.
04
Known limits are stated plainly and contested questions represent both sides; no claim is left without justification.
Openness and correction
If you find an error, a gap or a debatable statement in a lesson, report it: correcting the catalog matters as much as growing it. The content licence allows sharing and adaptation — the only conditions are attribution and sharing alike.
Content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
The catalog is ordered so that the reading sequence is never in doubt.
