By the end of this course
Explains the platform layers and where frameworks sit in those layers
Manages the project structure and the build configuration
Applies the app lifecycle and the interface guidelines
Distinguishes whether, when two definitions meet, one takes precedence, the intersection or the union is taken, or the meeting is rejected
Builds the platform's resolution rule with a small model and recognizes that the model is not the platform itself
01
Platform layers from the core operating system to the interface layer, system frameworks and libraries, frameworks for location, health, media, graphics, augmented reality and on-device models, the app lifecycle and background work, interface design guidelines, and the version and compatibility decision.
01
Platform Layers
Measuring how eight meetings of two definitions fall into four resolutions, and ordering the platform layers from the core operating system to the interface layer.
02
Frameworks and Libraries
Measuring that the visible names of two imported modules merge, that the same name is rejected, and that a local definition shadows an imported one.
03
Domain Frameworks
Measuring that requested permissions intersect with granted ones, that a capability missing from the device gives rejection, and that the scope of a permission does not change the rule.
04
The App Lifecycle
Measuring that the scene delegate's handler takes precedence over the app delegate's, and that declared background modes intersect with those the platform permits.
05
Interface Design Guidelines
Measuring that the user's text size takes precedence over the app default, that screen orientations intersect, and that colors merge.
06
Versions and Compatibility
Measuring that the versions an app supports intersect with the versions in which an interface exists, that disjoint ranges are rejected, and that the minimum version decision lies outside the rule.
02
Project, target and scheme, project file structure and configuration, the package manager and version constraints, the simulator and device difference, debugging basics with breakpoints, stepping and logs, interoperability with Objective-C.
01
The Development Environment
Measuring how the same build setting defined at two levels, expanded search paths and version ranges meet across the project, the target and the run scheme.
02
Project File Structure
Measuring the meeting of the property list keys a template writes with the keys the build generates, same-named resource files, device-specific assets and localizations.
03
The Package Manager
Measuring the intersection of the version ranges two packages ask for the same dependency, a local package replacing a remote one, and the union of package products.
04
Simulator and Device
Measuring a capability the app requires being absent from the simulator, the capabilities the simulator and the device share, and a simulated location replacing the real one.
05
Debugging Basics
Measuring the union of breakpoints, the intersection of log filters, a scheme environment variable taking precedence, and the rejection of a breakpoint placed on a line with no code.
06
Objective-C Interoperability
Measures the rejection of two Swift methods that fall onto the same Objective-C selector, the union of the names exposed by the bridging header and the generated header, and the precedence of a name given with NS_SWIFT_NAME; closes the course.
